The SoCal Heat Hub is excited to welcome Nicole Fassina onboard! Nicole is a College Corps fellow who is supporting the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative (SDRCC) on their research and outreach efforts. She will be working with the Heat Hub team to help contribute to communications materials within our blog and newsletter.

Nicole is a senior at the University of San Diego studying Psychology with a minor in Women & Gender Studies. She is interested in the intersection between mental health and climate change, specifically how climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable communities.

We’re looking forward to sharing Nicole’s writing in the near future. In the meantime, check out Nicole’s case study blog for the SDRCC about the urban heat island effect in San Diego, which highlights redlining and disinvestment as strong contributors to the unequal distribution of extreme heat.
